Crowdfunding - how to bring your project into life
The author creates a project, mentions the minimum amount of money needed to make it happen, selects a fundraising deadline, creates a video, defines the rewards, and seeks supporters, meaning people willing to finance the project.
If the amount raised reaches 100% within the author's specified timeframe, the accumulated money goes to the author, and the rewards are delivered to the project backers. If the goal isn't met by the end of the campaign, the money goes back to the backers, and the author will have to strive harder next time if they want to attempt crowdfunding again. In other words, it's all or nothing!
What are the types of crowdfunding available on the site?
All or Nothing (Fixed): If the crowdfunding project reaches 100% within the author's set time, they receive the money to execute the project and are obliged to reward the backers—everyone wins EVERYTHING! If the project doesn't reach the goal within the specified time, the author doesn't receive the money, and the backers get their money back—no one loses ANYTHING!
All Helps (Flexible): The author doesn't need to reach 100% to realize their project by the end of the campaign. They can receive the amount collected to begin implementing the project and deliver rewards to the supporters. For this to happen, the author needs to set a goal for this type of funding, which will guide their campaign until the end! Before anything else, the author needs to present an "Alternative Project" to Ideame, stating how this collected amount will be used in the campaign. This proposal will also be sent to all contributors! For instance, a fashion project author wants to launch their new collection and needs $5,000. However, they managed to raise only 10% of the total goal and decided to use that amount to register their brand and develop the logo for the new collection. Even if they didn't reach the total amount required to carry out the project, and if these 10% truly helps them get closer to realizing their idea, then this "alternative project" will be accepted, and the raised amount will be given to the author! And of course, the rewards will be delivered to the supporters!
Do these two types of funding apply to any project?
All or Nothing (Fixed): Projects with well-defined beginnings and ends that can only be realized with 100% funding from the campaign, such as publishing a book, where one of the rewards might be the published book with a dedication to the backers, launching a CD, DVD, a concert, a show, etc.! This funding type is recommended for creative and well-defined projects!
All Helps (Flexible): We believe this type of campaign might be essential for social impact projects and startups. The raised money will be allocated according to the mission and objective of the project. For example, an NGO wants to work with some schools in their city, offering workshops, but if they don't reach 100%, they can work with only one school until they can reach the total amount needed at another time! This funding type is recommended for social projects or ventures!
Your project needs some items outlined to be submitted for publication:
CATEGORY: Define the category your project falls into—you can add up to 2 categories. This will help your project appear more in our search filter.
DEFINED GOAL: Establish a financial goal after considering your budget. Remember that your financial goal should also include the production costs of the rewards and the service fee (administration fee + bank transaction fees). Remember: the total fee in Brazil is currently 10.40% for "All or Nothing" projects and ranges from 10.40% to 16.3% in the "All Helps" format.
DEFINED DEADLINE: Set the final deadline considering the urgency to access the money and start the project. We work with a maximum of 55 days.
TITLE: Define a title for your project. Create a simple and creative title that attracts people who don't know you yet but identify with your idea.
PROJECT SUMMARY: Write a sentence summarizing the project below the title. Keep it short, direct, and attractive to those viewing your project page.
VIDEO: There isn't a single perfect formula for this because each person reacts differently to each video, but here are some useful tips. People connect with other people, so we suggest you appear in the video. Keep it short and simple but also personal, showing how excited you are about your ideas and the project. Don't prolong it! People pay attention to videos for a short time. Keep it within 2 minutes! It's essential that your video answers: Who are you? What have you done? What do you want to do? What will you give in return? Don't forget to express gratitude! Your video doesn't need to be professional or edited! It can be something spontaneous you produced one afternoon with friends, for instance. The key is that the video reflects who you are as an author and is clear about what your project is!
IMAGES: You need at least 3 high-resolution images to illustrate your project. We recommend including images in your project description; it makes the project visually more appealing!
PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The tone should be as if you were speaking directly to the supporters, clear and succinct. Start by explaining what the project is, your motivation, how you'll execute it, the people involved, development timeline, how much you need, mention the standout rewards, where the project will take place, and anything else you find important.
REWARDS: Example Format - $5.00: You'll receive a thank-you email. Quantity: unlimited. Describe each reward and its values. People love unique gifts, rare editions, different and unforgettable experiences! Show how special these rewards are to you by supporting you. Use creativity and invent rewards like records, DVDs, dinners, parties, serenades, colorful balloons, and anything else you can imagine. Consider the costs of rewards (+ shipping expenses) when setting values. Important: consider scalable rewards between $20 and $100. The best strategy is to win in quantity with low values!
PERSONAL INFORMATION: Talk more about yourself, your experience, your education, and anything else that can help you realize your project. If you don't have experience, show anyway that you are capable of reaching your goal.
