How to write a short biography
An autobiography is a narrative of a person's entire life, but because people find this task intimidating, they often postpone it year after year. Here, we'll learn to write a mini-autobiography using the same elements as a full-sized one. Whatever your reasons for deciding to write it, you'll find that the rewards will last for many generations.
Strive to write no more than one or two paragraphs per subject. For instance, you can write a paragraph about your parents and another about significant events in your life. Start with an introduction. Briefly mention that you're writing an autobiography, a chapter at the beginning of the book that describes an interesting episode in your life. Was it for personal reasons? Detail your expectations in writing the story of your life. Avoid a simple chronological list of events but instead, introduce the reader to the character's life.
Describe the circumstances of your birth. Where and when were you born? Describe significant events that were happening at that time. Include events about your family, your city, and globally. To be concise, make a list with few details.
Describe your childhood. What was your favorite place as a child? And the least favorite? Describe all the important people in your life during this period.
Write about any significant event in your life, including relationships, natural disasters, job changes, and illnesses. For a concise narrative, describe these events in no more than one or two sentences. Choose the most important ones—those that shaped the person you are today—to detail further.
Finish by discussing your dreams for the future. What are your plans for the next ten years? What kind of person do you plan to be in 20 years? The autobiography will only be complete when you can no longer write it. Promise yourself that you'll return to writing it over the years. Your descendants will be grateful!
